Flowergirl TuTus

The latest trend in the 'wedding world' today is TuTus for dresses for Flowergirls. I think it is the cutest thing ever!!!!!! I know that a lot of brides today are moving away from the traditional route of planning a wedding. How cute would any lil' princess be, walking down the aisle in a tutu!
I think its a dress that can be used again after the wedding and the way that many designers are making them, the lil girl can grow and still use their dress.

Here is a pic of the dress on http://www.theknot.com/

Wedding Tip Wednesday

I just hung up with a great friend who recently got engaged. Micheal's has been a constant 'distraction' for her...in a good way, but so has so many other sites and stores as she plans her 2013 wedding. As I was pondering what to talk about, the light just went off..... as she went on and on and on about the process of planning a wedding, I remembered, you need to gear your shopping!

When you first get engaged, its OVERWHELMING the amount of stuff you find and like when you are just looking around stores or browsing online. Start with a checklist. There are several on a lot of the wedding websites that can tell you when you should do what.

I like to tell my brides, think about a color and a theme first!

So, for our first Wednesday Wedding Tip: Print your checklist, then shop! :-)

Morning Inspirations

It doesn't take much for me to be 'inspired' when it comes to events... especially table settings for weddings, anniversary parties, and baby showers. Every Friday morning, I set aside at least 30-45 minutes to look at new ideas onlines.... especially on http://www.theknot.com/.
As I was looking at reception ideas for an upcoming wedding, I had to make a mental note of the fact that Navy & Yellow are such great colors for any event, but especially a wedding. I can recall the 'Nautica' theme from a 1st birthday party that I hosted for friend's son, Noah, some years back. I loved this table setting and its elegance on this happy couple's wedding day.
Its funny how 1 aspect, such as this napkin holder can strike so many memories.... I guess its just the planner in me!

Visit http://www.theknot.com/ for inspirational ideas, even in your home. Our dining room table changes at least 7-10 times per year, whether its a holiday or a new theme that I came up with.... a lot of the inspirations come from what many brides use as their table settings!

Until next time...

Florist Nightmares?!?!

I couldn't help but to watch "Don't be Tardy for the Wedding" on BRAVO at 3AM this morning. I am surprisingly intrigued by the wedding plans of Real Housewife of Atlanta, Kim Zolciak. What was so surprising on that episode was the fact that no only did she have a celebrity wedding planner, but she was WITHOUT a florist.... talk about a nightmare days prior to your wedding!
The one thing that I have learned in my 12 years of planning events is that you never know..... what can happen, even if you have a lot of $$$$$. However, I am sure it also made some 'good tv' and by the end of the day, Kim had a florist scheduled to provide services for her BIG day.
The one thing that a lot of brides don't know is that those same floral arrangements that can be found in the grocery section of BiLo, Target, Food Lion, and Harris Teeter, is the creative mind of a certified Florist that can provide the floral arrangements for your BIG day at 1/2 the price! ;-)
If you or someone that you know if planning for their BIG day on a budget, check out your local grocery store and set a time to meet the florist!

Until next time....

Marriage Certificates......KEY ELEMENT

We all know that no wedding can take place without a marriage certificate. In Mecklenburg County, any bride can obtain this as early/ late as 90 days prior to the wedding date. You and the fiance have to arrive at the County office (near the court house) and sign paperwork TOGETHER, take an oath, and ofcourse.... make payment! LOL!

Don't delay your wedding for lack of receiving the necessary documents needed....
